ONE SILENT MOMENT.
A WALL OF ETERNITY
This is not a typical image of the Kotel.
There is no crowd. No sound. Just one soul facing a wall that has seen it all.
I didn’t plan this moment. I was simply there — with my Leica, as always —
and the city gave me this gift.
This photo captures what words often fail to say:
The quiet. The faith. The space between longing and belonging.
About the Artist
Shai Ashkenazi is a seasoned photographer with over 25 years behind the lens — capturing moments not for their perfection, but for their truth. Born in Israel and now based in New York, his work draws from a life shaped by contrast: joy and grief, silence and sound, exile and belonging.
His journey into photography began in the Far East, where a second-hand camera became a tool for processing the world. Over the years, his style evolved through street photography, wedding storytelling, and fine art documentation. But the constant has always been the same: a deep reverence for the moment in between — the moment that others might miss.
His work is raw, emotional, and deeply human.
Shot entirely on Leica, always with manual lenses, his images reflect a commitment to slowness, intentionality, and presence. There’s no automation in his process — just intuition, memory, and light.
This limited-edition photograph is part of a lifelong project: to honor the everyday sacred. Whether in Jerusalem’s ancient stones or a quiet street in Brooklyn, he sees the soul beneath the surface — and invites you to see it too.
